J. Crew Daisylace + Jeni’s Ice Cream

I bought these pants to go with ice cream. You have to really love ice cream to do that – buy a pair of pants to match. Well, I really – really – love Jen’s ice cream.

It all started last January, I went to visit one of my best friends and her husband in Columbus, Ohio. It was cold, grey, and well – Ohio. But I love my friend and of course we had a blast eating our way through the city. “A trip to Columbus isn’t complete without a trip to get some Jeni’s Ice Cream,” she said. So despite the near-freezing temperature, we bundled into the little scoop shop.

I was in love with the flavors at first sight.

Bangkok peanut. Roasted strawberry. Juniper and lemon curd. Black cat espresso.

I was in love again at first bite. The spicy, nutty, chewiness of Bangkok peanut. The fresh, zingy, creamy lemon curd.

Two scoops weren’t enough. But after returning to Baltimore, I was devastated to find out that there. was. no. Jeni’s. within. 500. miles. In fact, the flagship Columbus store – 420 miles away – was the closest location! But I didn’t pine for long. You see, Jeni’s ships ice cream anywhere in the country. I expected my co-workers to tease me when I told them I had ordered $75 worth of ice-cream and had it delivered to the office. Instead, I think I earned some street cred.

Imagine my delight when one of my best friends told me Jeni’s was opening a location off of 14th St. in D.C. I cleared my calendar for the grand opening. I took the afternoon off work. And I put on my J. Crew daisylace pants because I knew the periwinkle would go so well with the pastel shades of ice cream.

Call me crazy, but it was worth it.

These J. Crew daisylace pants came out towards the end of the summer. I usually shy away from anything too “girly,” but the color and the fabric’s quality won me over. They call this color “faded peri,” and there is something unique and soft (but not quite grey) to its shading. The material has a nice weight to it, doesn’t wrinkle, and the polyester lining is soft and hangs nicely. The scalloped hem of the cropped leg is delicate and compliments the pattern, but also feels modern.

While I wore the pants with a white top and silver shoes to the Jeni’s grand opening, here I styled them with a black silk camisole, clutch, and heels to make them feel sleeker and more minimal.

Sometimes J. Crew’s fit is hit or miss, but the daisylace pants are cut impeccably and I was able to take my usual size. They’re on sale now and I’m sure there aren’t many pairs left, so if you want one of your own, take advantage of J. Crew’s holiday sale this weekend and get ‘em now! (Ice cream not included).
