Back in March when I participated in a PortraitMeetDC x Sassanova photo meet-up, I had no idea that it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with the local boutique. When Sassanova invited me to walk for them in Baltimore’s biggest fashion show, FashionEASTa, of course I said yes!
FashionEASTa is an annual spring event hosted by Harbor East and produced by the amazing team at Stephanie Bradshaw Creative. The event highlights Harbor East retail stores like Sassanova, Modern Trousseau, and Under Armour on the runway, as well as Harbor East restaurants who provide street-side cocktails and bites. With hundreds of people in attendance for its seventh year, Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh gave a keynote address, while Go Go Gadget and DJ Impulse supplied the music. The half-day event closed down Aliceanna Street and concluded with a chic afterparty at Wit & Wisdom in the Four Seasons.
My day started off at 10:00 am in the chair for a sleek hair look by Salon 8736 and smoky makeup by MAC. Then I grabbed a bite at Whole Foods and hung out with the other Sassanova models (all Instagram influencers and bloggers) until it was time to walk down to the changing tent!
The Sassanova Models
Belen Barriga – @belubarriga // Sydney Paige – @coffeestainedlace // Elizabeth Ashley – @elizabeth_a_s_h_l_e_y // I Style D.C. – @i.style.dc // Lifestyle by Anna Elizabeth – @lifestylebyannaelizabeth // Margaret Nam – @lifewithmarg // Mya Angelic – @myaangelic // Nicole Breves – @nicole.b.fit // Kristi Stevens – @shoptini // Amanda Rodriguez – @thedudemom // Yasmine Nashed – @yasminenashed // Captain Luffy – @captain.luffy.the.pup // Andrew & Jordan Proctor – @proctwins
One of the cool details Sassanova organized was to get media passes for select PortraitMeetDC photographers to attend the event and act as our “paparazzi” on the runway. Models and PortraitMeetDC regulars Andrew and Jordan Proctor helped open and close Sassanova’s portion of the show – it was so fun walking with them, they’re such pros!
I loved the fun asymmetric look by MISA Los Angeles that I wore on the runway. Made of a soft woven cotton gingham, the wide-leg pants are balanced by a dramatic one-shoulder ruffle. MISA has this outfit in a couple different colors and prints and some are on sale right now.
Top | Misa Gilah Top – or try the Sendi top in stripe Pants | Misa Zadeh pants – or try the Matos pants in a red check, or Nikola pant in stripe Earrings | Baublebar Granita Tassel Earrings in Silver
You can find great pieces from MISA, Baublebar, and more at Sassanova of Baltimore in Harbor East.
Do you have a favorite local brand or boutique that you would love to see on the runway? Let me know in the comments!
