My spring color palette consists of neutral geometric prints paired with soft colors – the perfect backdrop for Cult Gaia’s textural, earthy accessories. I was inspired when I started planning our recent trip to South Beach, Miami where the pale pink and sandy gold art-deco buildings are punctuated by bright lights (that are somehow more pastel than neon), then wrapped by lush palm trees and gardens.

In this first look, colorful accessories create a delightful pop against a gold knit and monochromatic shorts. This isn’t a color combination I’ve ever worn before, but the pieces just fell into place, with the rich marigold belt from Cult Gaia as the central touch.

For my second look, the Gaia’s Ark bag went perfectly with an airy DVF ruffle dress. The Gaia’s Ark bag is a warm-weather staple and a blogger favorite for good reason, as the bamboo adds interest and depth to any look. I purchased a small, which is the perfect size to fit sunglasses, small wallet, phone, and lipstick.

The silk DVF shorts and dress (available via Rent the Runway) are both anchor pieces in my wardrobe, as I prefer geometric prints to florals. I love how they go with everything and I get a ton of wear out of both, whether I’m meeting friends for coffee or going out to dinner. I can even throw on a cropped t-shirt over the dress to turn it into a two-piece look.

Planning looks to go with a specific location is such a fun creative challenge – I like researching the location and engineering the perfect configuration of color palette, silhouette, cultural or artistic references, and of course practicality!
