It finally seems like spring is here, and I can’t wait to break out this statement pink jumpsuit that I’ve been sitting on for months! I found this stunning hot pink, wide-leg, silk-cotton faille number at J. Crew back in the fall and have been waiting patiently for it to be seasonally appropriate to wear.

As someone who usually favors soft neutrals and jewel tones, this is one of very few pink pieces in my wardrobe – but as just the right pink, in just the right cut, I couldn’t resist. There’s something about the waist pleats and shirt collar that make this seem a little 1950s, a little Carolina Herrera, and a little Dior.

Plus, the fabric – oh the fabric! It’s a beautiful silk-cotton blend with a sturdy hand-feel and subtle texture. As a faille, it’s a lightweight weave with little ribs, like a delicate twill, that is mostly matte but maintains a very subtle luster. Silk blends like this have a crispness to the drape that is visible and tangible. It’s one of the (fewer and fewer) J. Crew pieces these days that truly looks and feels high-end.
