I’m not a big trend follower, but I like making them work for me when they feel right – and sometimes I like to think I naturally have my pulse on what’s trending. A little bit of both approaches came together in the NYFW street style looks I wore last month. It was so much fun to get snapped by street style photographers outside Spring Studios, and of course half the experience was seeing what everyone else was wearing!
Scroll through for the details on my three NYFW street style looks.
Look 1: Fringe appeal
One trend I’m vibing for 2019 is the fringe skirt. While I couldn’t find any out in stores right now, I have a feeling this will be a fresh silhouette for fall. I bought this violet Tamara Mellon skirt from Material World last year because the fit and length made it feel like an instant classic. So even if I’m wrong about this being a trend – you haven’t seen the last of this skirt!
Belt bags were huge last year, but I needed the past 12 months to come to terms with fanny packs being back in! In advance of fashion week, I decided to embrace this structured Rebecca Minkoff belt bag for its functionality and crisp look – because it doesn’t look like the throwback “fanny pack” at all.
Finally, used a dark lip to balance this playful look. This burgundy liquid lipstick is called Stay the Night from Buxom Cosmetics’ VA-VA-PLUMP line. It’s extremely hydrating and long-lasting – I love it so much I have it in four shades.

Look 2: Candy-colored fur
I love shopping secondhand and vintage fashion, and that’s exactly how I found this no-name brand fur stole at Love Me Two Times, an upscale Baltimore consignment boutique. I’m so glad I brought it to fashion week because I saw a ton of colorful fur on the runway and on other show attendees – definitely a trend to watch for spring. J. Crew has some excellent faux-fur stoles from their fall/winter season that could easily be worn into spring.
I topped it all off with a red lip – Buxom lip color – in Make it Hot.
The fur stole was perfect with this classic houndstooth blazer dress that I cinched with another new find – a reversible Ferragamo belt I snapped up on eBay. It’s two classics in one, so it’s definitely a piece that I’ll be wearing forever.

Look 3: Lavender and red
Outside Spring Studios before the Chiara Boni La Petite Robe show. Read about all my favorite shows here.
I’ve been obsessed with this lavender wool cocoon coat from Everlane ever since I got it a few months ago. The impeccable cut and quality feels like a high-end designer coat, though it’s currently on sale for $150. I wanted the coat to be the focal point of the look so I wore black leggings and a black turtleneck underneath, finished off with the same reversible Ferragamo belt as Look 2.
There’s something about a bright warm red that makes lavender pop, so I accessorized the look with my favorite Naturalizer pumps in chili pepper and a swipe of red lipstick. It’s a color combination that feels fresh and fun for spring.
