If you’re a warm weather gal like I am, this frigid winter has you huddled indoors in two pairs of frumpy pants and a wool scarf wishing for spring. As uninspiring as the winter weather can be, it is possible to stay warm and chic. When I’m not slumming it around the house, my recipe for stylishness this time of year is one part bold lipstick, one part Aritzia sweater, and two parts classic accessories.

Thank you to the very talented Jan Galvan for collaborating with me on this shoot.

Look One

Between catching up on work, this blog, and meeting with friends, photographers, and other collaborators, I frequently find myself at cafes on the weekend.

It’s easy to fall into a pattern of black leggings and hoodies, but here I eschew the monochromatic look for a cheerful textured blue turtleneck that sartorially bridges the seasons.

Black skinny jeans and white tennis shoes keep it casual, while a tan statement bag ups the stylish factor with a unique shape and gold hardware. Pair with red lipstick for a Wes Anderson-esque pop.

Look Two

For a day at work the same Aritzia sweater in camel styled with black and charcoal form a classic and not unexpected palette. But vintage-inspired glasses and a red lip quickly elevate wardrobe basics.

Finish the ensemble with a perfectly tailored topcoat and suede stiletto heels. Bonus – these Everlane pants are cut like trousers, but are made of a super stretchy fabric that feels like your favorite leggings. Consider maximum nine-to-five coziness – and stylishness – achieved.

Look Three

I love unexpected color combinations, like garnet, pale pink, and periwinkle. The rich, thick knit of this oversized Grana sweater is balanced by the crop of the nude pants and sleekness of the patent M. Gemi heels.

Balance the look with statement earrings that blend natural stone with metallic shine, like these drop studs from D.C.-based jewelry designer Sarah Kaplan.

I hope these three cozy looks help inspire your late-winter wardrobe as we make the final sprint until spring!
