A girlfriend’s husband recently emailed me out of the blue asking about gift ideas for her. It was a super sweet ask, and I ended up writing a laundry list that became this blog post. While I’m not an authority on gifts for guys (my husband and I don’t do presents) or kids (there are zero in my immediate family), I do have a handle on what women love. I buy and try a lot of things myself throughout the year, plus as a heavy social media user I see what other ladies say about things as well. So here are 11 pieces that would make a perfect headline gift for your wife, partner, sister, Mom, or really, really good friend.
The fancy things she can’t justify buying for herself
Silk pajamas
These are one of those, “do I reeeeeally need them?” items that are just such a pleasure to use. They’ll make her feel like a queen – and look like one too. My favorite sets are the high-waist pant set, t-shirt set, and the silk slip dress, which is as sexy as it is practical on hot summer nights. Silk pillowcases
I love my silk pajamas but somehow I never thought about getting silk pillowcases until I was introduced to one of the co-founders of Mei Mei Moon. These pillowcases aren’t just beautiful (the prints are bespoke, hand-painted designs), they’re also heavenly to sleep on. If you’re always looking for cool spots at night but also want to be cozied up, you need this in your life – my husband is 100% won over by the naturally thermoregulating silk. Bonus – Mei Mei Moon donates 1% of sales to 1% to the planet, uses compostable packaging to offset their carbon footprint, and is majority AAPI owned and operated. The most luxurious slippers possible
Ultra-warm shearling slippers are a winter must-have and I’ve owned several pairs over the years, but none have been more lightweight or luxurious than these suede beauties from Sarah Flint dyed in jewel tones. They have non-slip rubber soles, extra cushioning under the heels, and special tassels made especially for Sarah Flint by legendary design house Samuel and Sons. These are the crème de la crème of cozy slippers.
Anything with diamonds
You can really never go wrong with diamonds. When in doubt, go for a diamond-by-the-yard necklace, or simple pair of studs – elegant pieces that go with everything. I love that Zachary’s Jewelers in downtown Annapolis, Maryland will let you trade in any pair of diamond studs you purchased from them for an upgraded pair throughout your life. It’s a fabulous way to give a gift that truly grows with your loved one’s taste over time.

The gadgets that make life just a little easier
A sexy (yes, really) electric kettle
I haven’t personally tried the Fellow Stagg electric kettle (not enough counter space) but it’s very highly rated on Wired and looks absolutely beautiful. Or spend a little more on the smart version and with the app, your special someone can set their tea or coffee water to boil from bed and have it hot by the time they go into the kitchen. I do have the stovetop kettle and while it’s a little slower than wider-bottomed kettles, it saves me stovetop space and looks beautiful.
The Furbo pet cam
This was a bit of an impulse purchase after we saw our friends use theirs, but it’s been a great way for us to keep an eye on our pup (and give him treats) when we’re not home. Anyone who loves their furbaby and wants to keep tabs on them will appreciate this connected pet device.
Airpod pros
Yes they’re pricey and yes there are cheaper alternatives, but there’s a reason these babies get so much hype. The new pro version has three sizes of ear inserts for a guaranteed comfortable fit, and they seamlessly switch between your iphone and mac. The Airpod pros make taking video calls all day at work so much easier – if she doesn’t have a pair yet, they’re 100% a good gift idea.
The classics you can’t go wrong with
An organic wine subscription
Back in 2020 I researched and found Dry Farm Wines, a small company that sources bottles from sustainable, organic vineyards around the world. We liked our first box so much we quickly signed up for a Dry Farm Wines subscription. We’ve been thoroughly enjoying it and haven’t had a single bottle we didn’t like! Our bimonthly subscription comes out to ~$28 a bottle – totally worth it in my book. You can also do a one-time box without committing to a subscription, which is perfect for gifting. Get an extra bottle of wine for a penny with your first order here.
Gold hoop earrings
You can’t go wrong with a classic pair of gold hoops, especially if your favorite lady already has a pair in a less durable metal like sterling silver or gold vermeil. Upgrade her to a solid gold pair like these in 18k white gold, or get a set with a twist like these gorgeous Gucci hoops from Zachary’s Jewelers.
The perfect suitcase
For those who love function as much as good design, a really beautiful suitcase is the perfect gift. I’ve loved my AWAY bag for years – it’s durable, lightweight, is easy to wheel around with the slightest touch. It also comes in a bunch of fabulous colors and sizes, for carry-on and checked luggage. Get $20 of your first AWAY bag here.
An actual watch
The ultimate wear-it-for-a-lifetime gift, a luxury watch like this Raymond Weil with mother-of-pearl dial and diamonds is one for the books.
