A lot can happen in a year. When a chance conversation with a stranger in an Atlanta cafe gave me the kick in the pants I needed to sit down and make this blog happen, I really couldn’t see more than one step ahead, but I did know that I needed to keep putting one foot in front of the other. It’s taken a lot of cumulative steps – late nights writing posts, early morning phone calls before the workday, and weekends when I couldn’t sleep in, but wow – here I am.

Year one by the numbers

45 blog posts

38 photographer collaborations

10 brand collaborations

7 city guides

5,650 Instagram friends

252 followers across Twitter and Facebook

5 fashion shows

1 article in the Baltimore Business Journal

Thank you to the wonderful Dani Lager for collaborating with me on this shoot!

This has been the year of experimentation, of trying every new opportunity that crossed my path and pitching a few of my own. It’s also been about learning when to say no – from brand partnerships that didn’t make sense, to events that didn’t have ROI, it’s truly been a learning experience to see what works for me and what doesn’t. I’ll be sharing some of my top takeaways in posts through the next few months, like:

What’s a collab? How to connect with photographers on Instagram

Let’s collab! How to plan and execute a successful styled shoot

How to start your blog – Bluehost, WordPress, and more

How to grow your following online and IRL

I never intended to write so many “How to” posts but so many bloggers are women, and I believe in women supporting women, especially when there’s knowledge that can easily be shared within the community. Those familiar with the Myers-Briggs personality framework will understand this best, but I’m an ENFP – a personality combination that’s known as The Advocate, The Campaigner, or The Inspirer. (If I’ve ever cornered you at an event I’ve probably peppered you with questions about what you do, what you love doing, and what drives you, and then tried to help connect the dots.)

While I’ll be honing in on The Primpy Sheep’s core brand in year two and defining what it will become next, I’ll never stop sharing my lessons learned along the way. Cheers to the next year!
