“I don’t believe in trends – I believe in style. Style is timeless.” — Modern Trousseau founder Callie Tein

I discovered Modern Trousseau when I walked in Baltimore Bride Magazine’s Aisle Style fashion show back in January. While being fitted for my dress, I recognized the subtle luster and hand-feel of real silk. At home, I looked up the brand and was impressed by the atelier’s attention to detail and dedication to the highest quality materials. “Callie loves the luxury of working with fine French and Italian laces, imported silks, and delicate beadwork,” states the Modern Trousseau website. “When the perfect fabric cannot be found, she will design the lace patterns and beadwork for production in the finest ateliers.”

It felt like I had found a bridal designer after my own heart – if only I’d known about Modern Trousseau when I got married! (Though I still adore my Carolina Herrera silk faille gown, so really, no regrets). In any case, I knew I wanted to work with the design house to showcase some of their unique styles and fabrics.

Thank you to the brilliant Ayo Stephens for collaborating with me on this shoot, and to the Sagamore Pendry Baltimore for opening their doors to us. Their sumptuously designed dining room and warmly lit courtyard were the perfect textural backdrops. The hotel also just nabbed the No. 1 spot on Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Hotels in the U.S. – what an exciting win, for the Pendry, and for Charm City!

This Rumer gown comes in two parts – an intricately beaded minidress, and a truly stunning removable high-low overskirt (with pockets!). It’s so completely different from classic wedding gown styles, and yet with tasteful styling and a fun attitude is instantly iconic. I loved the volume of the taffeta overskirt and functionality of being able to move from ceremony to reception. The minidress is covered in a delicate floral design with tiny beads and silk petals for a couture three-dimensional effect.

The Garland gown felt magical with its panels of lace and soft pleated tulle. It’s a unique combination, and one that feels instantly sexy, even when very little is actually revealed. I styled it with the Gala circle veil which has a lace border that compliments the dress. This romantic look called for swept back hair to add a touch of formality, and a jeweled hair clip to draw the eye up.
