I love the minimalism of a sleek clutch, but I hate having to tuck it under my arm, or flip from holding it at the top to the bottom to relax my tired hand muscles. While a crossbody is more functional, I’ll be the first to admit that it can quickly ruin the lines of an outfit. A nice compromise is a bracelet handle that lets you go hands-free while retaining the look that made you pick a clutch in the first place. Originally designed for the company’s founder to carry to the Met Gala, the Senreve Red Carpet Clutch takes the idea of a bracelet handle and elevates it to an entirely new level.

About the Red Carpet Clutch

A trim, elongated rectangular bag with snipped corners, the Red Carpet Clutch has simple yet elegant silhouette. Crafted from dyed snakeskin, each one is like a jewel, set with the pièce de résistance – an arching metal handle in silver or gold that slips over the hand and wrist. It’s this detail that is entirely unique from other bags, beautiful, and utterly memorable.

The bag is structured but not stiff, and is lined with Senreve’s signature smoky blue microsuede. It opens with a zipper and is roomy enough to hold my iPhone 11+, cards, lipstick, and a few other small odds and ends.

It would have been nice if Senreve had included a small inner zippered pocket to keep things like cash and credit cards safely stowed, but I’ll forgive the omission since the bag overall is incredibly light and functional, and has its outer zip. The Red Carpet Clutch measures 10.25” long, 4.8” tall, and is only about a half inch or less wide empty, though the Senreve website lists it as three-quarters of an inch.

The Red Carpet Clutch in Linea Storm Snakeskin

I got the Senreve Red Carpet Clutch in two colors; the Linea Storm Snakeskin, a black and grey dye that retains the snakeskin print, and the Tono Lavender Snakeskin, a pale dyed purple with the snakeskin texture but not the print. At first I thought the Storm Snakeskin was a little too dim – it seemed to fade into the background with jeans – but then I held it up to a black and white outfit and completely changed my mind.

While the clutch’s mid-tone grays can look subdued, it pops beautifully against white, like these crisp pleated culottes. The Linea Storm Snakeskin clutch is going to be my go-to bag for white jeans and shirt dresses this summer.

The Red Carpet Clutch in Tono Lavender Snakeskin

Meanwhile, the Tono Lavender Snakeskin is a beautiful neutral pale purple, like watercolor on silk. This almost ladylike color was begging to be worn with my favorite AMUR silk dress, with different purple floral prints. But don’t be mistaken in thinking this shade is altogether ulta-feminine – the pale purple looks just as good as a subtle pop of color in a minimalist neutral look.

Whatever you wear the Red Carpet Clutch with, the metal handle shines like a piece of jewelry all on its own; no need for bracelets. Both of the colors I bought came with a silver handle, but several of the other shades come in gold. (Now if only they were interchangeable, like the Aria bag chains!)

I’m looking forward to using these Senreve Red Carpet Clutches once it’s safe to go out for a special dinner again, meet girlfriends at a bar, and attend events. For a limited time, Senreve is offering tax-free shopping, and you can get $50 off your order at checkout by clicking here.
