Running around NYFW for four days was made a little easier this year because of the Senreve Midi Maestra bag. Last year I carried my Furla Olimpia everywhere – and man did my arm get tired!

Being on your feet all day with a heavy satchel bag certainly does a number on your shoulder. So this year I invested in Midi Maestra, a size up from the Mini Maestra I took on vacation to Spain last summer (read that review here). While the Mini fit my DSLR camera and a few essentials, the Midi fit all that, and a change of shoes, without looking overly bulky.

Running around Soho during NYFW.

One of the reasons my first Senreve purchase was the Mini Maestra is because I’m petite, and I didn’t want a big bag that overwhelmed my frame – but I actually found that the Midi wasn’t overwhelming at all.

Senreve’s thoughtful design details keep the bag looking elegant and somewhat delicate, even in a larger size. After experimenting with the Mini, Midi, and the original Maestra bag, I can say that the Midi is the most ideal size for all my needs.

How big are the Senreve Maestra bags?

The Maestra style is Senreve’s main product line, a versatile crossbody-satchel-backpack bag that comes in three sizes:

The Maestra, 10.25″ tall, 6.75″ deep, and 12.25″ wide at the base, it’s as big as a work tote and has an interior sleeve that fits up to a 13” laptop.

The Midi Maestra, 8.75″ tall, 5.75″ deep, and 10.5″ wide at the base, this is a perfect medium size for day or night use; it fits more than you would expect.

The Mini Maestra, 7.5″ tall, 5.5″ deep, and 8.5″ wide at the base. A perfect satchel bag size, this fits phone, small wallet, lipstick, compact, sunglasses, and even a DSLR camera.

Because I carry around my Nikon D750 camera everywhere, I need a bag that will fit it comfortably. While the Mini will accommodate it, that’s about all that will fit, besides the small essentials. The nice thing about the Midi is that it doesn’t look overly large but really does fit a lot in there.

Here’s a peek into my Midi Maestra – you can see my camera in there, and room to spare. The following day I slipped a pair of pumps on top, and I could easily have fit a tablet in there as well.

All the essentials. // Wearing my custom Forevermark ring from Zachary’s Jewelers.

Are Senreve bags worth it?

One question I get quite often is – are Senreve bags worth the cost? At $695 for a pebbled Mini Maestra (the basic leather finish), $795 for a Midi and $895 for a fulls-size Maestra – prices that can increase up to $1,175 for fancier leather finishes – they are not cheap.

I rationalized purchasing the Midi Maestra because I knew I would use the heck out of a bag this size, especially with the versatility of being able to wear it as a backpack or crossbody as well as holding it in the hand.

Last year I had my eye on saving up for a Louis Vuitton Cluny or Alma top handle bag in Epi leather, but to be quite honest, Senreve leaves those classic designer bags in the dust when it comes to actual utility.

I love the idea of an elegant little designer bag to hold in the hand, but the reality of my life is that I need a bag that can move as quickly as I do – and that’s the Senreve Midi Maestra.

The quality is also fantastic. For my Midi, I leveled up from pebbled leather to Senreve’s Mimosa finish in storm, a beautiful medium-dark grey. The Mimosa finish is similar to a traditional saffiano – textured, but without the crosshatch – and gives the bag an extremely elevated, elegant feel.
