Growing up, it was so tricky to find shoes that fit my narrow feet. Every summer, My Mom and I would have to go to an Italian specialty shoe store in northern Virginia to purchase one pair of everyday-dressy flat sandals to go with my school uniform. It was a bit of a splurge, but it taught me the beauty and value of a well-made shoe. I’ve been a devotee of European shoes ever since – so I was delighted to learn about a new luxury, vertically-integrated brand, Inez.

About Inez

Designed in New York City and crafted in Spain, Inez has a streamlined selection of shoe styles that all feature their secret sauce – a contoured, research-backed insole. The arch curves upwards, providing support (hurrah!) and prevents the foot from sliding forward – something that’s usually an issue when dancing or walking for a long time in high heels. Inez’s brand is built on this kind of attention to detail, including a sensitivity to fit, offering sizes in (as they put it) slim, standard, and roomy widths.

One of Inez’s most delightful details is that they’ve designed the buying process to make online shoe shopping as frictionless as possible. Inez lets you pick a complementary backup size to try along with your primary size selection – simply try them both and send back the pair you don’t want. You’re only ever charged for one pair.

The Inez Alta Pump

I’ve been looking for the perfect slick silver pump for a long time, so when I saw the Inez Alta pumps in silver metallic I was in love! The 3.5” heel is the perfect height to elongate the leg without sacrificing comfort, and the proportions of the pointed toe and curve of the vamp are extremely well-balanced.

My feet measure 7.5 AA so I selected a 7.5 slim as my first size, and a 7 slim as my backup. However, when I received my order it turned out that the 7 slim is a 7AA, but the 7.5 slim is a 7.5A – so they are not actually next to each other on the size scale. I found that the 7AA was too small and the 7.5A was slightly too wide.

Thankfully, Inez has a terrific customer service team. I spoke with a very helpful gentleman who listened to me describe the fit and offered to send me two additional sizes to try. He insisted I hold onto the original two shoes to make sure I could do side-by-side comparisons. I ended up trying the Inez Alta pumps in four sizes – the 6.5 and 7 standard as well as the 7 and 7.5 slim.

After a lot of trying on and walking around my living room carpet, the 7 standard turned out to be the best fit – shocker! I’d been so excited about trying Inez specifically for the narrow width, but I think they already run a little narrow. Thankfully they do offer the roomy width to accommodate broader feet.

If the 7.5 had been an AA instead of A, I might have gone with that pair. It was a little hard to tell because it was February when I bought these and cold feet fit shoes differently than warm feet. So I was also trying to imagine how the shoes would fit if my feet were a bit swollen from warmer weather.

The card that came with my shoes assured me that a slightly snug initial fit was preferred, and that the cushy sole would quickly conform to my feet. I’ve worn these heels several times and I do think they’ve become more comfortable.

Wearing the Inez Alta pumps in silver metallic.

I love Inez so much I got a pair of their Sasha sandals in silver as well – read my review here. Metallic shoes are a great way to make a subtle statement! For fall, I’m eyeing their lower-heel Lola pumps in red suede that will be great for day-to-night looks.

Had read your review as I also struggle to find narrow shoes. I then purchased the Alta pump and couldn’t be more pleased with the style, the construction, the materials, the fit and the overall comfort. Hoping they introduce more suede colors in all of the widths (including slim)!
