Since I’m working a lot and socializing very little these days, go-to bag in 2020 has been the belt bag. It’s portable, hands-free, and versatile, since the best modern belt bag options can be work multiple ways. If I could recommend one bag to buy this year, it would be the Senreve Coda or Aria belt bag (bonus – you can yours for $50 off here).
I bought my first, the Aria belt bag (reviewed here), last year and actually tend to wear it as a crossbody or shoulder bag. This year I splurged on another belt bag style, the Senreve Coda, which I love wearing as an actual belt bag or a sling.
Senreve’s belt bags appeal to me more now than ever before because they’re so darn functional – I can put one on and basically forget it’s there. But I definitely use the Coda and the Aria differently. Here’s a breakdown of what I love about the Coda belt bag and how it compares to the Aria.

About Senreve
I learned about Senreve (where else) on social media but it took me a while to click through to their website and probe further. After finally doing some due diligence, I saw that they fit into my personal product values, from a dedication to craftsmanship and high-quality materials, to a sustainable mindset – while many luxury brands trash their imperfect products, Senreve sells these slightly blemished pieces at a discount, and all their bags come with a lifetime guarantee.
In fact, the Senreve Mini Maestra performs really well on all three of my criteria for bags that will stand the test of time: beautiful design, broad utility, and excellent construction. My first purchase was their Mini Maestra bag (reviewed here) and I’ve since also reviewed the Midi Maestra and full-size Maestra bag, in addition to a size comparison of all three.

The Senreve Coda
The first thing people notice about the Coda belt bag is its unique shape. With elegant curves, it’s unlike any other belt bag I’ve seen. I love that it stands out, and that it’s spacious without being overwhelming to my petite frame. It closes with a secure zipper, and has slots for cards and an additional zipper pocket inside.
I purchased the Senreve Coda in Mimosa Bordeaux, a rich, deep reddish-purple color in a durable finish that’s similar to saffiano leather. The quality of Senreve bags is incredible, especially the textured Mimosa finish which is especially scratch-resistant. I’ve come to prefer it over the pebbled and dragon finishes – yes I’m guilty of owning three Midi Maestra bags in Mimosa Latte, Storm, and Bordeaux!
While the Aria has a flap closure that’s pretty but not super secure, the Coda feels like the bag I’d want to take on vacation. With its zip closure and compact shape, it’s ideal for exploring a new city, or hiking a mountain all day.

How does it compare to the Aria?
Both bags honestly fit a ton. I was able to fit my iPhone 11, wallet, face mask, a tube of Drunk Elephant sunscreen, as well as lipstick and lip balm inside each one.
While the Coda is sleek and minimal, the Aria is 100% recognizable as a Senreve bag, featuring the same signature flap closure as its classic Maestra bag line. And while belt bag devotees have heaped compliments on the Coda, the Aria is more of a chameleon, with the ability to function as a clutch as well as a belt, crossbody, or shoulder bag.
The good news is that Senreve’s interchangeable chain straps work on both bags. I have one in gold and one in silver so I can match with any kind of jewelry, and switch it up from a belt bag to a crossbody at the drop of a hat.
Overall, I would recommend the Coda for people who want to wear their belt bag as a belt bag or sling 90% of the time, whereas I recommend the Aria for fashionistas who want more flexibility or who aren’t sure if they’ll always be on the belt bag bandwagon.

My favorite thing about Senreve’s belt bags is the ability to wear them in different ways. Take your pick of the Coda or Aria – you can wear either as a classic belt bag, sling, or crossbody.
I’m personally happy I have both, especially given all the walking dates I’ve been having with friends outdoors. You can’t beat a minimal belt bag for functionality and these both deliver on what they can fit inside, as well as durability and style.

Just got my first Senreve bag! I decided on the Aria belt bag for its versatility, but I love the look of the Alunna or the Mini Alunna. I finally decided to take the plunge after finding out about the Handbag Revival Sale. You would never know that the bag has any imperfections by looking at it. 100% happy with my purchase!
That’s awesome, I’m so happy to hear it! I love my Aria; haven’t tried the Alunna yet. It definitely has a cute profile!
