Wearing the Lunya Organic Pima Wide Leg Pants + Top in Dulcet Petal

My first thought when I saw Lunya’s organic pima cotton set several years ago was – oh, how boring. Why opt for cotton when Lunya makes the most beautiful washable silk? My thought 30 seconds after sliding on their organic pima cotton wide leg pants last year was – why the heck did I wait so long to try these?!

Lunya is constantly one-upping themselves; every year, it feels like I have a new favorite Lunya set. I may have initially turned my nose up at their organic pima cotton line, but you don’t have to make the same mistake. Read on for why I love this set so much it’s become my go-to favorite (even more so than the washable silk).

About Lunya

There’s something truly chic about a matching pajama set – especially one that claims it will help you sleep better. Pure nonsense? No, says sleepwear brand Lunya, whose cheeky tagline, “Good in bed,” pops up everywhere on social media. You’ve probably seen the brand hyped up on Instagram, TikTok, in your favorite fashion magazine, and more. So what’s their deal?

Lunya’s sleepwear and intimates, “are crafted to make you feel confidently comfortable in your most intimate space — the bedroom,” says their website. “Being a modern woman can be complicated. We’re here to simplify — we know lots of things keep you up at night; what you sleep in shouldn’t be one of them. Cue slow raising of the hand – I’m exactly the kind of person who likes feeling put together at all times, and appreciates anything that makes bedtime (and weekend mornings) feel a little extra special.

How long has Lunya been around?

Founded in 2014, Lunya made a name for themselves with their signature washable silk sleepwear that brought low-maintenance luxury to home-bound millennials deprived of slick international vacations in 2020 and 2021. In their early days, I fell in love with Lunya’s dedication to all-natural fabrics and functional blends, from washable silk to linen-silk, to cotton-silk and alpaca. I love how they’ve cracked the code on stylish sleep and loungewear that you actually want to wear all day.

The fabric: Lunya organic pima cotton

My first impression of the Lunya organic pima cotton was how soft and airy it is. It’s also thinner than I expected, but that doesn’t mean low-quality. It’s very strong – my pieces from a year ago have held their color, shape, and stitching through numerous washes. The lightweight fabric is cozy yet cooling to sleep in (Lunya’s sweet spot) and while the light colors are a little sheer, the dark colors are very opaque.

The crème de la crème of cotton, pima cotton is softer and smoother than other cotton fabrics due to the length of the fibers used in its creation, and Lunya’s organic pima is top notch.

The pants: flowy, heavenly

Lunya’s organic pima cotton wide leg pants are gathered in a wide waistband that sits at the natural/high waist, and cascades gracefully down to the floor. I was concerned they would look overwhelming on my petite frame, but because the fabric is thin and drapes so well, it actually looks super flattering and doesn’t add any bulk. For reference, I am 5’5” and these pants hit an inch above the floor. They have a raw hem, which may be how they fit people of different heights – they start to roll delicately at the bottom after a couple wears. And if you’re on the shorter side, you can easily trim off an inch or get a tailor to do it for you in a few minutes.

Sleeping in these pants is amazing because the flowy, wide legs gives me full range of motion. I change positions a lot over the course of a night, so sleepwear that moves with me is super important.

The wide waistband deserves its own praise. Super stretchy and not at all constricting, this is the magic waistband I wish all my pants had. No matter how full I am, if I pull these pants on after dinner, the waistband is uber comfortable and flattering.

Oh – and there are pockets.

The top: modern feminine

The organic pima cotton long-sleeve top has gathering at the shoulders and wrists that are a little frou frou for my taste, but are balanced by the clean lines of the rest of the piece. I give it a pass because it’s so darn comfortable. I love the wide cuffs that make it easy to pull up the sleeves. The fabric hangs away from the body slightly with a relaxed, easy fit.

The verdict

If I could only pick one sleepwear set, from any brand, to wear forever – this would be it. I can’t say enough good things about the fabric and the pants. They’re just as cozy in the fall and winter as they are in the spring and summer. When it’s colder out, I like to layer Lunya’s cozy cotton silk pocket henley on top.

I’ll say it – Lunya’s organic pima cotton is the GOAT.
